If you are interested in appropriate-scaled alternatives to global capitalism, you can check out the latest issue of New Renaissance magazine which has an article by Guy Dauncey on "Putting the Heart Back in Local Economies". Dauncey looks at the many concrete examples of locally based economic projects already in existence today.
Also in this issue is an article by Kenn Kassman (Envisioning Ecotopia) in which he reviews the strategies of the social ecologist branch of the American Greeen movement.
