At the link above to the Volunteering page of this People in Action web guide, you have some starting points, like the i-to-i organization with interesting volunteer programs of different lengths to, for example, teach English in poor countries, etc. Also listed in the web guide, Idealist.org has a large international database of volunteer opportunities. iyerusalem Jun 24, 2003 - 02:18    im 18 years of age and want to start volunteering in order to improve my chances of acquiring a job. i am energetic, helpful, enthusiastic, and a hard worker. i pick up new things fast and i am willing to work long hours. i would love to work with children and the elderly but if there is anything available to help me improve my skills for future jobs, for example in areas of marketing or secretarial work it would be great. but even if that is not possible i would still like to have the opportunity to work with your organization in whatever field is available. i have skills in dancing, acting, sports, singing and am comfortable working with most software, and i am fluent in english, both in writing it and speaking. i would appreciate any assistance that you can provide with helping me find somewhere to volunteer.
