I've joined AIDS WALK 2005 to take a step toward ending the HIV/AIDS crisis in our community. More than a million people--more people than ever before--are living with HIV/AIDS in the U.S. Yet every year it gets harder for people to find support, and agencies struggle to keep their programs funded. In other cities, AIDS service organizations have cut services and closed locations to keep their doors open.

We don't want that to happen here. This is one of the many reasons why:

Maya has two children, twelve and seven, and she lives in a small apartment. She tested positive for HIV four years ago, and recently has been diagnosed with AIDS. She works part time, which is all she can manage. Every week she receives a family grocery bag from Lifelong, full of staples like pasta and rice, proteins such as chicken or tofu, and fresh fruits and vegetables. She also receives pre-made meals she can heat up when she's too sick to cook, in the microwave Lifelong supplied.

Maya is one of many people Lifelong helps every week. Her health and well being are important, not only to her, but to the two children she supports. Living with HIV is hard enough, but to do so while raising a family is even tougher. Few of us can imagine the difficulties of a life like Maya's: frequent illness, poverty, underemployment, and the challenges of raising a family.

But we can all help Maya, and people like her.

Take part in my effort to end HIV/AIDS in our community--sponsor me for AIDS WALK 2005 and support Lifelong AIDS Alliance. Lifelong's services help Maya, as well as our entire community. Their prevention education team works with the people most at risk, including youth, who represent one out of every two new HIV infections. Programs for people living with HIV/AIDS include food, housing, insurance continuation, and case management. Lifelong also employs the only full-time advocacy team in the Northwest, to address changes in funding and advocate for people's right to information, treatment, and a life with dignity.

We all want a life with dignity. Help Maya and the thousands of people Lifelong serves every year. Click the link below to go to my AIDS WALK 2005 page and make a donation.

Thank you for your support.

Hi. My name is Amanda Kartchner. I am a senior Advertising student at University of Nebraska Lincoln. I am in the beginning stages of developing an awareness and prevention campaign for HIV. I am currently working on research and was interested in knowing if anyone knew where I could find HIV positive people to talk with me. I am willing to talk via e-mail, phone, in person, or otherwise. Thank you for any help anyone can give me.

RE: HIPAA & HUD Complient Data Management

Aid for AIDS of Nevada is in the process of setting up a new database program to handle their client tracking and internal needs. If you are involved in the administration of an HIV/AIDS organization or any other human social service, you may want to check out http://www.ClientTrack.net.

It meets all HIPAA and HUD compliency requirements, it is scalable to any size, and it is showing a degree of flexibility I have never before seen in an MIS system.

If there are any questions, let me know, and I will do my best to answer.

Justin

HIV / AIDS workshop in Michigan

GCL Consulting Services is a business that effects change through education. We will be conducting ongoing workshops throughout the United States on HIV / AIDS.

Please refer to our website to familiarize yourself with our objectives. I am asking that radio and television personalities announce our upcoming workshops on HIV / AIDS to the public. Twenty five percent of the people who have the disease aren't aware of their HIV / AIDS status. HIV / AIDS is no respector of persons.

As agents for change we are working to help people become better informed, and live healthier, longer and more productively.

Let us work together towards the prevention of this devastating disease, and to enlighten those living with the disease that there is LIFE after HIV / AIDS. Current treatments and implementing lifestyle changes give people hope for brighter tomorrow.

It is not who we are but what we do that leads to HIV / AIDS. Please check our website for dates and times of workshops. Other workshops will be conducted monthly throughout the year. It is our hope that you refer your listeners to our website for additional information. When people know better, they do better !

Thank you in advance for joining GCL Consulting Services to effect change in the lives of people throughout the world. Our website address is www.gclconsultingservices.com

Sincerely,

Gloria Lester

Here is the link to donate to amfAR -the foundation for AIDS research- as a gift to Janet Jackson for her birthday.
http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/janets-birthday/amfar-the-foundation-f or-aids-research

It's a great cause and I really hope everyone can give something, even if it is a small gift. It's not only for Janet, but it's for millions of others. The format given to make the page won't allow for the prettiest set up lol but don't let that discourage you!

Oh and each person that donates will get a receipt for tax purposes. The donations will actually remain open for 6 months so we can still continue to make contributions beyond her birthday but I think it would be best to get started right away so she will be able to see what's going on in her honor.

Let's tweet it... facebook it... email...release some pigeons and all. This is bigger than Janet and others can participate whether they like J or not.

1. HIV/AIDS is not cured here or anywhere. It is a debilitating chronic disease which may be controlled like diabetes.

2. Why Africa? There are established AIDS service agencies in every major city of the USA which have lost a lot of funding due to George Bush and others putting the focus on Africa to cut funds here. And those funds have been cut...sometimes appropriately, but often not.

3. There is a need in the U.S. for people to assist an aging HIV/AIDS population. Many of us who are older were very sick and nearly died 20 yrs ago. We have struggled with cancers and infections for 20 yrs. As we enter our old age, many of us are impoverished and are at the risk of homelessness.

4. Contact an ASO, AIDS SERVICE ORGANIZATION, in your home area if you have time and energy. It's not as exotic as going to Africa, but you will find things you can do right at home to improve the health of your own community. Want to help African economies to cope with HIV/AIDS? Lobby Congress to make sure AIDS funds go to reputable NGOs and not corrupt governments or homophobic religious organizations. Travel to Africa and spend money on tourism there.
