I want to tell you about Workcamp Kenya activities: WcK is a registered charity organization offering international and local volunteer(s) an opportunity to participate in short, mid term and long term voluntary work.
The WcK programmes have been running since 2003, a group of local students, a number of volunteers, some from the NGOs circles had previously participated in charitable activities. We support people affected or infected with HIV/Aids, orphans, physically challenged and vulnerable children, provisional of basic education and teaching, community health work camps.
The WcK organizes monthly international voluntary work camps on community development projects for young people in various parts of the country. Its membership and participation is open to everyone over age 18 years from all over the world both skilled and non-skilled. It works with local, international voluntary organizations, non-governmental groups and communities to pool ideas, efforts and resources to enhance growth and development.
Most of the work camps are available at community level and are meant to develop boost community growth or development around Kenya. Besides the work camps focuses on numerous activities among them are:
• Nature and Environmental Conservation
• Civil, Human Rights and Social Justice
• Child orphanage and care, OVC (orphans and vulnerable children)
• HIV/AIDS patient care and home based care
• Rehabilitation of basic social amenities
• Basic Medicare Provision, Health care and Hygiene education
• Teaching and Help A School Programme
• Protection and care for the girl child
