Re: To change the world Government is the bastardization of many individual's good ideas on how to cahnge the world for the better. Anything other than a small group will lead down the same path. No matter how good your intentions to perpetuate positive change, the more people that get involved, the greater the risk of exchanging one evil for another. Changing the world comes when you change YOUR OWN perception of the world. Not by forcing your will, beliefs, or value systems on someone else. Government intervention, religious zealotry, joining any organization, opening a fast food franchise, or any other type of cultural imperialism is just another way of saying, "Our way is better than yours". The world is not one big happy family, not a collective group of souls with a common purpose or pursuit, not of one mind or spirit. It is only a group of individuals who all have a right to thier own thought and dreams. Any attempt to homogonize the individual human spirit is an attack on free will and personal expression. So, yes, "Never doubt a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world." But only if they keep to themselves and don't try to change everyone else world. |
