Norway is still slaughtering whales and Paul Watson needs your help

Paul Watson, the founder of The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and one of the founders of Greenpeace, is in prison and needs your help. Paul has been falsely imprisoned by the Dutch government because of his activities directed against Norway's illegal whale slaughter. He has dedicated his life to the protecion of sea mammals. There would possibly be no more whales and harp seals left if it wasn't for him. Please take the time to help him; he has done so much and has asked for nothing. Now he needs us. To find out how you can help please go to:
http://www2.seashepherd.org/orgs/sscs/wh/no/pwhelp.html
After you contact the agencies listed on the web site, forward this to all your friends and tell all who care about the Environment.

Help Paul Watson

Information exchange about the Chihuahua desert

Everybody has heard about the rainforests and the problems associated with their disappearance. But who has heard about the Chihuahua desert (which in fact reaches deep into the U.S.)?

Mexico is a country which about 150 years ago was 90% forrest and 10% prairie or desert. Now the relationship is almost the other way 'round. Enterpreneurs without intelligence and understanding are slaughtering the last few trees in the "Sierra" of Chihuahua (the southern extension of the Rocky Mountains), so the amount of water going down to the arable lands and desert are getting less and less every day. That also strikes the U.S., because 70% or more of the water going down the Rio Grande and below it comes from the Sierra through the river "Rio Conchos".

That is just the beginning of the story. That lack of water causes problems like dry air, increased allergy problems, huge amounts of energy wasted in heating and cooling houses which are constructed in very inadcuate manner, etc. And the list goes on.

My knowledge and possibilities are pretty much limited, but my hardheadedness is just the opposite (I am of northern German, Frisian origin; that's why). So I want to find a way to do something.

At this time we have a fascist government in our state, which is trying to put in jail everybody who is active for the society and not of their political and religious believes (I am a baptist), and already had to flee to Germany once for almost four years, but: so what! I can alwys run away again. For the moment I am still here and want to act.

Anybody interested in helping (and of course also receiving help, whenever possible)? Perhaps we could even open our special chatroom.

If you have any problems expressing yourself in English, you can also write the unknown words in Spanish or German, and I will translate them for the other members in the chatroom, if necessary.

Hoping to hear from you folks soon.

Uwe
