I'm sorry, but I don't have much infomation regarding biogas, but I was hoping you could help me. I investigating ways of installing a biogas plant for domestic use for just one house. Instead of using a spetic tank. I was wondering if you could proivide me with some information on the viablilty of such an option and the methods to go about intalling such a facility.

Thanks

The easiest way is to have a 20 littre drum and puor down the bottom what ever you want exchanged into methane (biogas) and pour in with the mixture some sort of bacteria and water you need to make it into a slurry at the top of your 20 littre drum have a hose coming out at the other end of the hose have a container that you would use to contain your methane then onto of your drum have a wieght and in you hose somewhere have a tap. the wieght will push down forsing gas to come out but when you turn the tap off the pressure will build and force the wieght back up. but if theres to much pressure theres a chance it will combust.

Re: Information about obtaining Biogas (Methane)

Hello! My name is Christine Lindquist and I'm a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Kenya, Africa and I'm working at the village level with some farmers on biogas. We are in the process of installing tubular digesters, and possibly a floating drum. I am new to biogas, and I was wondering if you knew of any biogas "clubs" that the farmers would be able to become a part of as a biogas owner. I am trying to make sure that this is sustainable, and was thinking that if they were involved in some sort of international mailing list, or something of the like, it would be benificial from an educational and motivational point of view. I am in town (Kisumu) occasionally to check email, so if this is convienient for you I would really appreciate any links or ideas or suggestions you may have. Or, my snail mail address is

Thank you very much for your time!

I'm looking for information on domestic biogas systems, to be run on a 17 hectare plot, but with possibilities for the addition of digester food from other farms - are there any suitable 'off the shelf' systems?
