Re: Naadis of Tamil Nadu, and other parts of India

I'm an Australian who has spent a number of years in India serving in academic and social service areas.

I'm slowly exploring the topic of naadis, the predictive readings on palmyra (or palm) leaves purportedly authored by great ancient sages - such as Brighu, Shuka, Shukra, Agasthya, Kousika, Koumara, Kakbhusandi, Bhoga, Pullipani, Vashista, Vishwamitra, etc.

Even the slightest bits of information help me to "jigsaw" a larger picture together. I want to make contact with anyone who knows any shred of information about these leaves - addresses of naadi jyothishas (readers), and experiences - convincing or otherwise - of any one who has ever consulted these leaves.

Re: Naadis of Tamil Nadu, and other parts of India

mr.barry pittard,
first of all let me introduce myself.i am a final
year student in medical faculty studying in russia.i am amazed by
the interest shown by many foreign nationals in the ancient scriptures
and texts, while most of my countrymen are unaware of the very existence of naadis.i will be delighted to share the little informa-
tion that i have.five thousand years back i.e around 3000 b.c after
the great war(mahabharata)sage vyasa, the author of mahabharata,bhaga-
vat and bhavishyapuran(the book about the future events to take place)
had given the task of writing the naadis to some of his disciples.
these are now available in the northern part of india, especially in
the states of punjab, uttar pradesh and bihar.the naadis written by
sage agasthya are available in the south,in madras and vaideeswaran
koil(which is located roughly at 40 to 60 km from selam).personally
i have never visited these places.i have read a lot of articles about
naadis and i am very much interested to know about my future.people
say that every thing is written in sanskrit.we can trace the family
tree, past lives and ofcourse the future.there are translators who
do the job and they charge some amount for every question.my friend
had been there, though he never says what they had told him.he keeps
it as a small secret.since i am far away from home i am unable to
give you the address.may be in a couple of days i can let you know.

keep in touch,
rama krishna.

Re: Naadis of Tamil Nadu, and other parts of India

After a computer crash that put me out of action for over three months, I'm back online, and happy to discuss nadis with you. Are you still interested?

Hi,

I met a naadi astrologer in T.Nagar, Madras when I was 16 yrs old. I am 27 now. My cousin-brother accompanied me to the astrologer's place. I gave my thumb-imprint and my cousin brother's name next to it (as the contact person). A few days later I received a call from my bro saying they found my leaf and had asked me to come for a reading.

There was quite a stack of palmyra leaves with some kind of orange-coloured inscription. They went thru quite a few leaves at first. I just had to say yes or no. Some question were easy like - your father is in wine business, you are a brahmin, you are the first-born, etc, when I said no, he would put away the leaf. But some questions were tuf. He said "your family is searching for a groom for your sister". Actually proposals were coming in and my parents neither said yes nor no, as no one including my sis had made up their minds-they were all thinking "if a really good one comes along then maybe" - I deliberated for a while and said a reluctant no and he simply put the leaf away - just like that based on a single question. A nagging doubt ate away inside my head - what if that was really my leaf, after all the names (mine and my parents' !) and quite a few details matched. But we went on until abt 10-12 details matched with one leaf (it was the second last in the stack of abt 40-45 leaf bunches and I had already given up by the time we reached there).

He described the kind of thumb imprint I have (sulli, chakram, etc), mentioned my name, that I was in 12th Std, told my parents' names (all in poetic form which he translated accurately) and that I would be staying away from my parents and with friends. (I was staying in a hostel). He then gave details of my future life, age of marriage, told a bit abt my sister's life, said I will hv only one daughter (one child) in my life. He said a few general things about my wealth conditions, relationship conditions, etc. EVERYTHING has come true till now. It was an amazing experience truly! I still listen to the cassette in which they recorded the whole reading (first he wud read out the archaic tamil inscription from the leaf and translate everything in normal tamil).

I don't think those 2 guys could be mind-readers. I hope to meet some naadi astrologers again. I also plan to ask the naadi astrologers a lot of questions. Let me know if you have any questions to ask on your behalf. Shall keep my experiences posted here.

Almost six years ago, in September 1998 and again in November 1998, I had my first experience with Nadi reading. The second reading went just as Parameshwari has described.

I was amazed when they located the leafs that belonged to me using just my thumb print. Everything about my parents, the family I was born into, and my married life was accurate. The nadi reader was able to predict the names of all the family members. He even predicted my profession very accurately.

Then came the part deal with predicting the future. I was going through a very difficult period in 1998. The predictions indicated that I would overcome the difficult times and would be indeed come out victorious and even achieve worldwide fame.

Alas, to date, no such predictions have been realized. I must add that several astrologers who have read my horoscope also made glowing predictions about my future and that I would achieve a world renowned position. Again, only time can tell.

I continue to do my best, regardless, as exhorted by The Lord Himself in The Bhagavad Gita. Karmani ava adhikaarus thay, maa phaleshu kadhachana. Speaking to Arjuna, The Lord Shree Krishna says, “You, only have the right to perform your duties, never the right to their fruits of your labors.” This applies to each one of us.

Dear Parameshwari:

Sorry for the delayed response, but I have been unable to locate the details. I thought I had stored the booklet in which the readings were written, but it appears that they were destroyed or thrown away.

The only thing I remember is Agasthiyar Nadi and that there were at least four brothers involved in the readings. I am not a resident of Chennai, but the readings did take place in Chennai and I in the interim, I have also lost touch with those who took to me the Nadi reader. Perhaps, this is an omen! You are the Parameshwari and I have nothing to offer!

Dear Friends:

When I say "Similar" what is the thought that comes to your mind? I got up this morning with this thought and I also found an interesting answer. Let me hear from others here, and I will then post my response. Have a wonderful and joyful day.

Well, that's sad Laxmanan :-(

Anyway can you remember the place in Chennai where you saw the nadi astrologer? Any landmark you remember around the area? Or the name of the nadi astrologer?
